About

The story behind Mehrutherm.

Mehrutherm is a technology studio in Creston, Washington. I'm Himanshu Mehru, the founder. I started it on a simple conviction: businesses and towns in Eastern Washington deserve technology solutions as good as anything built in Seattle.

Mehrutherm was my father's company before it was mine.

I grew up in India. My father was an air conditioning engineer who ran his own firm, Mehrutherm Engineers and Consultants, for decades before he retired. He believed engineering was a form of service: you learn to solve hard problems so the people around you don't have to live with them. He hoped I'd take that up. When I eventually started a company of my own, on the other side of the world and in a different trade, I gave it his name. It felt less like branding and more like keeping a promise.

I came to the United States alone at eighteen and studied software engineering at the University of Washington. I'd been building websites since high school and never really stopped; that's more than twenty years of this work now, first as an engineer at companies in western Washington, then as an independent consultant. In 2015 I raised my right hand and became an American citizen.

From Seattle to Creston, WA.

During the pandemic I admitted what I had known for a while: city life wasn't for me. I went looking for land, found it in Lincoln County, and stayed. These days I live and work on an off-grid homestead outside Creston. The studio runs on a Starlink connection, and it turns out that's all a software practice really needs.

Mornings start with the animals. The goats, sheep, pigs, and chickens get fed before the first meeting of the day. Lincoln and Kody, the dogs, watch over the place. Francois and Remy, the cats, keep me company while I work. I spent years building technology in the city. Now I build it for my neighbors in Eastern Washington.

How we work

Small on purpose, accountable for the whole thing.

Mehrutherm is deliberately small. When a project calls for more hands or a specialty we don't carry, we bring in people we trust, and the standards stay ours. A few commitments hold regardless of the size of the job:

Plain English
We would rather explain something clearly than sound impressive. You'll always know what's being done and why, in words that don't require a background in technology.
Care, not just projects
Launch day is the beginning, not the end. We host, update, back up, and watch over what we build.
Honest pricing
You get a clear quote before work begins. No hidden fees, no padding, and nothing sold to you that you don't need.
The same standard Seattle gets
Small businesses and small towns deserve work as good as anything a big firm ships. That conviction is the reason Mehrutherm exists.

Rooted in Lincoln County.

Home base is Creston. Most of our clients are within a couple hours' drive: Spokane, Wenatchee, Moses Lake, Davenport, Wilbur, and the towns between them. Nearly everything can be handled remotely, and when a job is better done in person, we drive out.
